YOGA CLASSES IN ENGLISH IN LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA
The aim in the yoga classes is to work within a healthy mobility range to improve strength, flexibility and stability. Movement is synchronised with the breath to loosen up tight areas and to find balance and calm. All classes are friendly and non competitive. Everyone works from their own starting point. We modify poses if there are any tight areas and use props such as bricks, belts, blocks and blankets.
Studio props might currently not be available due to COVID restrictions.
A typical class includes different yoga poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and elements of meditation. After a moment of centering we will work through a well rounded sequence of poses. The class finishes with a rejuvenating relaxation to allow the body and mind to completely let go and rest.
After a gentle warm up to increase mobility in the joints and spine, you will be guided through a balanced, slow-paced yet energising sequence of yoga poses. A great class to build up your strength and stretch those tight muscles, using props or modifications if there are any problem areas.

Slow Flow Yoga
This contemporary and fun style of yoga will tone, strengthen and stretch the whole body, linking breath with movement in a slow flow. It's a slower style compared to a Vinyasa class, with fewer transitions and poses. The poses are held longer with emphasis on the calm and meditative aspect while still working on improving strength and flexibility. The blissful relaxation at the end will leave you feeling peaceful and connected.

A wonderful practice to work with the fascia and other connective tissues for greater flexibility, healthy joints and to release tension and energetic blockages in the body along the Meridian Lines. It is also a great way to quieten the chatter in your mind, to relieve stress and activate the parasympathetic nervous system where we can recover and heal.
While a more yang style of activity use movement to strengthen and stretch the muscles, yin yoga targets the connective tissues with poses which are held in stillness for a longer time, often around 3-5 minutes. We need both yin and yang for good health and yin yoga is a great complement to any kind of sport or more active forms of yoga. This is your time to renew, nourish and slow down.
Suitable for all ages and all levels, from beginners to experienced yogis.
Chair Yoga for Seniors
A gentle yoga class, using chair support to combine a variety of sitting and standing poses. Chair yoga is especially helpful for people who cannot get up and down on the floor easily or who are limited in the ability to kneel or sit cross-legged. Slow, measured movements will build muscle strength and improve balance, reducing the risk of falling as you age. The exercises help keeping the joints in the body healthy and supple, increasing flexibility and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises, relaxation and meditation are also incorporated.
Individual personal classes
With 1-1 sessions, I can address specific issues or questions, which is not always possible in a group class, and create a suitable plan for you based on your aims and expectations.
